TAIPEI (The China Post/ANN) - Premier Su Tseng-chang and his Cabinet members were sworn into office on June 14, including ten new Cabinet members who joined after the reshuffle, and another two-thirds who stayed in their posts.

TAIPEI (The China Post/ANN) - According to the latest poll released on June 9, the popularity of President Tsai Ing-wen has leaped to its highest in months, owing to her tough response to President Xi Jinping’s unification speech on January 2.
TAIPEI (The China Post/ANN) - A new survey released on Jan. 9 by Taipei-based Cross-Strait Policy Association indicates that as many as eight in ten people support Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen’s “four must” pledge for the development of cross-strait relations. The survey on “People’s Views on Policy Talks across the Taiwan Strait” also shows that her popularity has climbed to 48.4 percent, a record-high number over the last 12 months.
TAIPEI (The China Post) – South Korean action thriller “Take Point,” starring Ha Jung-woo (“Along with the Gods”) and Lee Sun-kyun from the TV series hit “My Mister” was released in theaters across Taiwan on Dec. 28, much to the delight of local moviegoers.

KAOHSIUNG (The China Post) – Kaohsiung Mayor Han Kuo-yu said on Dec. 25 that his administration will seek the fair future development of Kaohsiung. He also restated his campaign promises, namely “Goods will flow out, people will flood in, and Kaohsiung will become a rich city,” during his inauguration speech.
TAIPEI (The China Post) – Just on time for Christmas, Taiwan’s Antarctica expedition team reached the South Pole on Dec. 22, the first time ever for any explorers from the region.
TAIPEI (The China Post/ANN) – Former SEF chairman Chiang Pin-kung died on Monday, Dec. 10, at the age of 85. Chiang served the chairman of Taiwan's Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) from 2008 to 2012 before becoming head of the Straits Economic & Cultural Interchange Association.
TAIPEI (The China Post/ANN) - The ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) suffered a crushing defeat in the “nine-in-one” elections on Nov. 24, losing seven of the 13 cities and counties it previously held -- the special municipalities of Taichung and Kaohsiung, as well as Chiayi City, Yilan, Yunlin, Changhua and Penghu counties.
