COLOMBO (The Island/ANN) - A suicide bomber involved in the Easter carnage, who was in police custody few months prior to the attack was released due to the intervention of an influential politician, reveals Petroleum Resource Development Minister.

COLOMBO (The Island/ANN) - As many as 36 foreigners killed and nine reported missing in the Easter Sunday attacks, including foreign nationals of India, Portugal, Turkey, UK and US. Twenty five unidentified bodies believed to be of foreigners are at the Colombo Judicial Medical Officer’s mortuary.

COLOMBO (The Island/ANN) – Sri Lanka Muslim Congress, in a statement condemns attacks on the unsuspecting civilians as they gathered at churches to pray on Easter Sunday, one of the holiest days in the Christian calendar, as shocking, barbaric and senseless. Calls on government to use its full force to apprehend perpetrators.

COLOMBO (The Island/ANN) - PM assures investigation into why a prior warning about the attack had been ignored. Says all measures would be taken to wipe out terrorism and ensure incidents like the Easter Sunday carnage would not happen again.

COLOMBO (The Island/ANN) - Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe promises to keep public informed of who is behind the attack that claimed over 200 lives and nearly 500 wounded yesterday. Blasts rocked three churches, St. Anthony’s Church in Kochchikade, Kotahena, St. Sebastian’s Church in Katuwapitiya, Katana and Zeon Church, Batticaloa and three Colombo hotels, the Shangri-La, Cinnamon Grand and Kingsbury.
