Bank Indonesia opens Beijing office
JAKARTA (The Jakarta Post/ANN) - Indonesia's central bank opens a representative office in Beijing.
Bank Indonesia has opened a representative office in Beijing following an agreement between the Indonesian central bank and the People’s Bank of China.
The agreement document was signed by Bank Indonesia Governor Agus Martowardojo and People’s Bank of China Governor Zhou Xiaochuan in the Chinese capital on Jan. 5.
Agus said the opening of the Beijing office was in line with Indonesia’s expanding role in both the global and regional economy.
“The [office] is expected to optimally increase economic cooperation between the two countries and expand our understanding of economic and financial issues [in both countries],” Agus said in a statement received by The Jakarta Post on Friday.
The Beijing branch is the fifth BI representative office abroad, joining its counterparts in Tokyo, Singapore, London and New York.
