Brunei’s statement on Jerusalem
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN) - Brunei Darussalam expressed alarm over the ongoing violence in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and urged the need for a political solution to the Palestinian-Israel conflict.
Brunei’s concern was underscored in a national statement on Jerusalem issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade yesterday.
According to the statement, Brunei joins the international community in reiterating its serious concern on any change in position, on Jerusalem from the status quo.
The release added, "We reaffirm our position on the two state solutions towards achieving an independent state of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital.
"In this regard, we continue to support all relevant United Nations Security Council and General Assembly resolutions, particularly on the need for the final status of Jerusalem to be resolved through negotiations among all parties concerned.
"We express our solidarity with the Palestinian people on their inalienable right to self-determination and support for all international efforts to bring a just, lasting and comprehensive peace between the Palestinians and Israelis."
