Brunei students take off for training at Indonesian institution

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN) - A memorandom of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between Politeknik Brunei (PB), Brunei Darussalam and Politeknik Kota Malang, Indonesia will take place at Politeknik Kota Malang, Indonesia today.

Signing on behalf of PB is Assistant Director Alias bin Haji Abu Bakar and will be witnessed by Dr Tang Shi Siong, Acting Head of School of Science and Engineering. Signing on behalf of Politeknik Kota Malang is the Director, Dr Isnandar MT and will be witnessed by Aditya Kurniawan, Coordinator for Student Exchange programme and Senior Lecturer of Engineering Department.

The objective of the MoU is to establish, promote and develop cooperation between both institutions in the field of Science and Engineering programmes of mutual interest.

Each institutions endeavour to take necessary steps to encourage and promote cooperation in the following areas under Global Education Programmes (GEP), which are Exchange of Students, Exchange of Staff, Internship Programme and Joint Conferences.

In fulfilling the MoU’s objective, five students from the School of Science and Engineering at PB who are studying Level 5 Diploma in Telecommunications and System Engineering will be undergoing training in MIKROTIK and CCNA (Cisco Certifies Network Associate) certification. They are at Politeknik Kota Malang from April 15 to May 5. The students will also visit telecommunication industries in Malang, Indonesia.

Recently from February 22 to March 18, five students from Politeknik Kota Malang participated in the Student Exchange Programme at PB, where they studied Microwave systems module, visited Radio Television Brunei (RTB) and experience the Bruneian culture.
