Cambodian Election Campaign for the 6th Legislature General Election Kicks Off

PHNOM PENH (RASMEI KAMPUCHEA DAILY/ ANN) - The Cambodian election campaign for the 6th legislature of the General Election from July 07-27, 2018 kicked off this morning.

Between 80,000 to 100,000 supporters of ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), with 1,720 cars and 14,400 motorbikes  gathered here in Koh Pich under the presidency of its President Samdech Hun Sen and Honorary President Samdech Heng Samrin. Besides Phnom Penh, more CPP’s supporters across the national also started their campaign.  

At this event, Samdech Hun Sen strongly encouraged and called all eligible voters that voting for CPP means voting for national independence, national sovereignty, full territorial integrity and world-renounced Cambodia in the international stage; voting for CPP means voting for security, peace, stability and development; voting for CPP means voting for the continued improvement and enhancement of people’s livelihoods!; and victory for CPP means victory for the People!.

“July 29, 2018 is the National Election Day! I would like to appeal to our Cambodian fellows as well as the members of CPP to excise your rights to take part in this election with high responsibility by going to vote, and vote for CPP which has Angel’s flower blessing dance emblem and is listed number 20th on the ballot sheet”, he underlined to his supporters.

On behalf of CPP, Samdech Techo Hun Sen also solemnly reiterated his promise that, upon winning the election, CPP will continue by all means with its full competency to ensure and sustain peace, stability, security and development by attaching high priority to governance reform aimed to enhancing public institutions and building clean public administration, investing in human capital, creating favourable environment for business and investment, as well as strengthening ownership and partnership in the development with all stakeholders, especially strengthening Cambodia’s competency for regional and global integration. All these are important and necessary ingredients for every Cambodian to pursue a better life with ever improving living standards while enjoying the harmony of Cambodia’s society which respects human dignity, democracy, freedom and justice, he underlined this morning to his supporters.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also reiterated his full support to the monarchy and the current constitution.

“On this great occasion, we all wish to convey our deepest respect and gratitude to Preah Korona Preah Bat Samdech Preah Baromneath  Norodom Sihamoni, the King of Cambodia and Samdech Preah Mohaksatrei Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, Preah Voreakreach Meada Cheat Khmer of Freedom, Dignity and Happiness, for their reign in providing a ‘blessing shade’ to Khmer nation; and we all would also like to respectfully wish His Majesty King of Cambodia and Samdach Preah Voreakreach Meada Cheat Khmer, good health, great wisdom, and longevity to continue to navigate Cambodia toward     long-lasting progress, prosperity and happiness”, he underlined. 

Beside CPP, this 6th legislature of the General Election attracted other 19 political parties, including Cambodian Youth Party, Cambodian Nationality Party, Khmer National United Party, FUNCINPEC Party, Khmer United Party, Grassroots Democracy Party, New Light Party, Beehive Social Democratic Party, League for Democracy Party, Khmer Anti-Poverty Party, Dharmacracy Party, Republican Democratic Party, Our Motherland Party, Khmer Rise Party, Khmer Economic Development Party, Khmer Will Party, Khmer Republican Party, Reaksmey Khemra Party, and Cambodia Indigenous People Democracy Party.    

The League for Democracy Party (LDP)’ s campaign also started today with some 15,000 supporters with 300 cars, 500 tuk tuks, and 4,000 motorcycles, LDP’s spokesperson Kov Kea told Rasmei Kampuchea Daily.  

FUNCINPEC also started the campaign today with 2,000 supporters by 120 cars, 300 tuk tuks, and 500 motorbikes, according to the party’s announcement.

The other political parties also began their respective campaign by their own ways and means.
