Charity drive helps needy in Brunei

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN) - DST kicked off its annual charity drive, ‘Ihsan Kasih Ramadhan’, for the 11th consecutive year, to distribute donations to less fortunate families in remote areas.

The donation was distributed in Belait District (Melilas, Sukang, Rampayoh) on May 7; Tutong District (Long Mayan, Mapol, Supon, Kuala Ungar) on May 8; and Temburong District (Batu Apoi, Labu, Amo and Batang Duri) on May 14.

This year, DST’s Ihsan Kasih initiative reached a widespread of deserving families, in collaboration with non-govern-mental organisations and local businesses.

DST also aspires to support local businesses by working together directly with them to provide local canned food and Brunei’s own traditional delicacies such as Kuripit, Sapit and Roti Papan to the less fortunate families.

DST’s charity drive began with travelling a distance covering up to a four-hour journey to reach the longhouses inland around the remote areas in Ulu Belait and Ulu Tutong.

The drive will continue until June 5 to other districts, covering 120 houses listed with an additional 50 families.

The annual charity drive continuously inspires DST employees to participate voluntarily and contribute their personal donations for the less fortunate families.
