Plantation Industries and Export Agriculture Minister Dr. Ramesh Pathirana said, yesterday, that people living in tropical climates such as Sri Lanka, did not face much of a threat from the novel coronavirus, which had mainly affected China.
He told the weekly Cabinet Press briefing at the Information Department that the spread of coronavirus in tropical areas was much less, when compared to cold environments.
It was unlikely that the current novel coronavirus would turn out to be as deadly as the SARS epidemic which originated in 2003, Pathirana added.
