Celebrities from South Korea and China dominated the scene. On the local front, famous Malaysians were seen glamming it up for photographers in the different fashion capitals of the world.
Here’s a rundown of who’s who at the recent Spring/Summer 2020 runway shows. Asia represent!
Malaysian singer-songwriter Yuna was spotted at the Chanel show. She wore a standout red outfit by the fashion house and was seen rubbing shoulders with American rapper Cardi B.
Chinese singer and actor Xiao Zhan, whose recent drama The Untamed was a huge hit, created a buzz on Weibo for attending Gucci’s show. The Gucci camera bag he carried reportedly received a new name after. It has been dubbed as “the bag that Xiao Zhan carried to the show” by fans.
Fans were delighted to see Blackpink’s Jennie Kim at the Chanel show. She has been a model for Chanel Beauty in South Korea since 2018 and became a house ambassador shortly afterwards.
With her own successful headscarf brand in Malaysia, Neelofa is no stranger to the fashion scene. She made an appearance for Dior, fully clad in key designs from the latest Cruise 2020 collection. She was also seen at Gucci and Tommy Hilfiger.
Burberry snapped up Chinese actress Zhou Dongyu for its Lunar New Year campaign earlier this year. So it comes as no surprise that she attended Burberry’s recent show. The collection was sold through WeChat for a limited 24 hours right after.
Also stepping out for Burberry was South Korean actor Yoo Ah-in. He has been a regular attendee of the fashion house’s parties since 2013, and was chosen as its only male global ambassador this year.
K-pop star Jisoo is a member of girl group Blackpink, currently one of the most popular girl groups in the world. She was spotted wearing a tartan wool jacket and matching miniskirt, sitting front row at the Burberry runway.
Sporting a simple white top and shimmering skirt, Lisa of Blackpink turned heads at the Celine show. In just a few minutes after the show started, the hashtag #LALISAxCelinePFW trended on Twitter.
It seems that the Blackpink girls are everywhere. Rose was spotted showing off the daring side of Saint Laurent. For the runway, she wore a glossy black blazer dress with accentuated shoulders.
Scha Alyahya embraced modernity for her fashion week appearance. The Malaysian model, actress and television host was seen attending Tory Burch’s show dressed in the label.
South Korean model and actress Lee Sung-kyung perfectly matched the geek chic aesthetic that Gucci is championing. Her preppy outfit comprised a Gucci shirt and vest paired with matching jacket and culotte.
