COLOMBO (The Island/ANN) - The 61-year-old singer checked into a stunning resort, last December (2019), for an eight-day stay, splashing out US$32,000 for the week, while seeing in the New Year on holiday with her loved ones.

Although reports indicate that Madonna was involved in a legal flare up with ex-husband, Guy Richie, during Christmas time, with the pair reportedly rowing about where the kids would spend the holidays, the singer did find the ultimate luxury getaway to forget her woes as she checked into the luxury Vakkaru Maldives retreat with her toyboy boyfriend, Ahlamalik Williams, 25, and daughter Lourdes, twins Estere and Stelle, Mercy James, 13, and her 14-year-old son with Guy, David Banda.

The 61-year-old singer checked into the stunning resort, last December (2019), for an eight-day stay, splashing out $32,000 for the week, while seeing in the New Year on holiday with her loved ones.

According to a source, the superstar checked into a Beach Pool Retreat ($2,265 per night) and an Over Water Family Pool Villa ($1,829 per night).

Madonna and her boyfriend are said to have stayed in the Beach Pool Retreat, which sleeps two adults and boasts a private beachfront terrace and pool.

Her children, they say, stayed in the family villa, which features a private over water terrace with hammock and sunbeds, secluded infinity pool and lagoon access.

The family had dining choices from across the world, in the six restaurants, and bars, as well as a wine cellar, specializing in global cuisine with a Maldivian twist, Italian, Japanese, Southeast Asian as well as a luxury beach grill.

The resort is situated on a reef island, with powder soft, brilliant white sands, deep blue holes and a house reef with unique marine biodiversity, as well as 2,000 fully grown coconut trees.

Guests are invited to handpick fresh organic ingredients from the farm, and sample flavours from Europe to Asia, while soaking up the tranquil atmosphere, with a table under the stars, or dine amidst elegant, locally-inspired interiors.

Luckily for sports enthusiast Madonna, the resort also boasted two floodlit tennis courts and badminton court.

The family took part in a variety of activities, including a sunset beach picnic, water activities and excursions with Vakkaru’s on-site diving centre Splash, and playing sports at Vakkaru’s Sports Fields.

And, Madonna, no doubt, took advantage of the over water gymnasium, before checking into the spa and wellness centre.
