Focus on low cost operations at AirAsia briefing

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (Borneo Bulletin/ANN) - AirAsia hosted media representatives from Brunei, Singapore and Malaysia at a briefing at the Hilton Hotel, Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

AirAsia CEO Riad Asmat and AirAsia X Malaysia CEO Benyamin Ismail opened the event with welcoming remarks, followed by presentations on topics which gave the media representatives a better understanding of the low-cost airline.

Head of Operations Captain Adrian Jenkins spoke on low cost operations, and Head of Operations Control Centre, Andy Brooker spoke on Aircraft Control System/ On Time Performance and cause of delay.

Head of Safety Captain Ling Liong Tien delivered on the topic of safety, and Head of Commercial AirAsia Malaysia Spencer Lee and Group Head of Commercial AirAsia X Barry Klipp spoke about its low cost business model and the ‘free seats’ programme.

Group Investor Relations Esme Law delivered a talk on the topic of AirAsia’s continuous growth and AirAsia Group’s new structure, while Chief Data and Digital Officer Shanti Nikunj spoke on AirAsia as a digital airline.

A question-and-answer session also took place with panellists comprising Captain Adrian Jenkins, Spencer Lee, Barry Klipp, Esme Law and Shanti Nikunj.

Joining the panelists were CEO of AirAsia BIG Loyalty Dato’ Eddy Leong, Head of People Department Varun Bhatia, Head of In-flight Catherine Goh and Nina Mastura and Aspa Linda from the Cabin Crew Department (Group).

The briefing concluded with an introduction to ONEAirAsia Newsroom, and a lucky draw offering the airline’s aircraft models as well as loyalty points of 50,000 and 100,000 points and a grand draw of 150,000 points.
