Four locals in Korea for scout workshop
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ ANN) - Four Scout commissioners comprising Brunei-Muara Dis-trict Scout Commissioner, Mohammad Arif bin Abdul Hadi; Tutong District Acting Scout Commissioner, Mosli bin Haji Abdul Hadis; Belait District Scout Commissioner, Mohamad Hatta bin Haji Suhaili; and Temburong District Scout Commissioner, Jurkarnain bin Husin are in South Korea to participate in the Asia-Pacific Regional Workshop on Membership Growth. It is organised by the Asia-Pacific Regional Scout in collaboration with the Korea Scout Association and is being held at the Suncheon Asia-Pacific Scout Centre, South Korea.
Around 25 Scout leaders from 17 countries in the Asia-Pacific region are participating in the workshop which concludes on July 19, 2017. The workshop aims to build internal capacity within the National Scout Organisations to attract more youths to scouting towards achieving the World Organisation of Scout Movement Vision 2023 and the mission of movement.
The local team was sent by the Brunei Darussalam Scouts Association (PPNBD) recently sent.
The workshop provides participants the opportunity to develop analytical competency and describe essential factors for quantitative growth in scouting. It also seeks to identify the scope for membership growth and to draft membership growth strategies at national and local levels as well as to develop an action plan for 2017 – 2018 on growth strategy.
The PPNBD invited National Scout Organisations to share their stories that will enhance their understanding on success factors as well the challenges being faced by National Scout Organisations in attracting and retaining youths in scouting.
Deputy Scout Chief Commissioner Haji Ismail bin Pehin Orang Kaya Ratna Setia Dato Setia Haji A Hapidz, International Commissioner Abdul Manan bin Haji Abdul Latip and Executive Scout Officer, Zainudin bin Haji Ishak were at the Brunei International Airport to send off the local representatives.
