Hello Kitty named TICAD goodwill envoy in Japan

TOKYO (The Japan News/ANN) - The Foreign Ministry appointed Monday popular character Hello Kitty as a special goodwill envoy character for the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) to be held from Aug. 28 to 30 in Yokohama.

The Foreign Ministry appointed Monday popular character Hello Kitty as a special goodwill envoy character for the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) to be held from Aug. 28 to 30 in Yokohama.
 The Hello Kitty character also contributed to successfully inviting the World Expo 2025 to Osaka as a special envoy. The Foreign Ministry said it considered the “successful record” of the character in making the appointment.
 Images of Hello Kitty will be featured on stationery products distributed at the TICAD venue, and performers in Hello Kitty costumes are scheduled to appear at TICAD-related events.
