Malaysia to promote tourism at That Luang Festival
VIENTIANE (Vientiane Times/ANN) - Tourism Malaysia is using the annual That Luang Festival in Vientiane to encourage people to visit Malaysia and enjoy its scenic and cultural attractions.
The organisation is setting up a booth at the festival to distribute information and advertise tourist attractions to entice visitors from Laos, which is one of Malaysia’s target markets.
According to Tourism Malaysia, this is not the first time it is participating in the festival. The organisation attends almost every year because That Luang Festival is a big event that draws a lot of visitors and is a good opportunity for Tourism Malaysia to introduce the country to more Lao people.
The organisation expressed interest in the festival and sought permission from Lao authorities to participate in the event.
Those who visit the Tourism Malaysia booth will be given brochures and can take part in games to win gifts from Tourism Malaysia and tour companies. There will also be special prices for people who book tours.
For Visit Malaysia Year 2020, Tourism Malaysia has issued advertisements on LED, radio and newspapers in collaboration with tour operators in Laos. It also organised a Malaysian food and tourism week at the Vientiane Center last month.
In addition, Tourism Malaysia conducted “mega fam” trips for the Lao media and tour companies to introduce them to key tourist sites in Malaysia so they could write articles about them and publicise them. Tour companies also came up with new tourism programmes for customers.
Tourism Malaysia also intends to take part in other activities to reach out to more Lao people.
