Malaysia's frozen whole durian arrives in China
KUALA LUMPUR (Sin Chew Daily/ANN) - The inaugural delivery of frozen whole durian from Malaysia to China has arrived at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on Wednesday. The four tonne durians are shipped in the temperature-controlled environment by MASKargo after China allows import of frozen whole durians from Malaysia.
The first batch of frozen whole durian from Malaysia has arrived at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport in China.
In a statement, MASKargo said that the Flight MH6170, which carried four tonnes of frozen durian, departed from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at 6am, stopped over in Kota Kinabalu and arrived at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport at 5.35pm local time.
“This is a breakthrough and major development for the company in expanding its business operation,’’ said MASkargo’s chief commercial officer Jason Thomas.
The boom in durian export follows the deregulation by China in allowing imports of whole durians from Malaysia.
“The durians are kept in our cold rooms before being shipped in the temperature-controlled Envirotainers,’’ he said.
Thomas said the MASKargo worked closely with the Malaysian Quarantine and Special Services Department (MAQIS) to ensure that the stringent export requirements were met.
The company also worked closely with the ground handlers in China to ensure a seamless operation.
He said: “We would like to thank the exporter BEHO Fresh Sdn Bhd and the durian processing factory, PHG Ever Fresh Food Sdn Bhd for choosing MASkargo for the inaugural delivery of durians to China,’’ he added.
