Many Myanmar citizens visit Thailand through Myawady

MYAWADY, Myanmar (Eleven Media Group/ANN) - More people have visited Thailand through Myawady border gate in Thadingyut holiday period, sources said.

Tin Win, Assistant Director of Immigration sub-department in Myawady said pilgrim groups need to report about their travel one day in advance to facilitate border pass process at Myawady Friendship Bridge as there are many people making border pass to visit Thailand.

“We are facilitating border pass process if the pilgrims submitted details one day in advance. Some sent their names, ages and national registration numbers via email. If the process is done at night time, they can visit next morning. There are many visitors as vacation period is coincided with weekend days. There is a long queue since this morning,” said the assistant director.

Myanmar charged K1,000 ($0.627) for border pass and Thailand collected Baht20 ($0.607) for the visit.

The visitors are allowed to visit Mae Sot, Mae Ramat and Phop Phra with six nights and seven days trip.

“I don’t have plan to visit Myawady at first but one of my friends Kyi Soe invited me to come. I came with my family and they are happy. The happiest period for me is Thadingyut holiday. We planned to visit Thailand as we want to know about Thailand more. We can copy their good practices,” said Poet Khaing Chit Aung from Yangon.

Some visited Thailand for medical check-ups.

They visited Shwe Myin Won Pagoda, Ahdeiktanaung Pagoda, Michaungkone religious land and Mahawizaya Pagoda in Myawady before paying a visit to Thailand.

The pilgrims visited famous places in Thailand such as Mae Sot market, emerald green Buddha Image and other places.
