Philippine vice president: Our freedom today is in danger
MANILA (Philippine Daily Inquirer/ANN) - The freedom enjoyed by Filipinos today is facing danger, according to Philippine Vice President Leni Robredo.
The freedom enjoyed by Filipinos today is facing danger.
This was the warning issued by Vice President Leni Robredo during the commemoration of the 120th anniversary of Philippine Independence.
“Nowadays, the freedom that we enjoy is endangered,” Robredo said in a statement.
Robredo noted the rise of poverty, price hikes among goods and commodities as well as the “deprivation” of justice.
The vice president also pointed out the “disregard” of human rights and the attempt of foreign powers to take over the country’s territories.
But in spite of this, Robredo said: “The Filipino people I know will not be defeated.”
“Instead, the Filipino people I know will stand up to defend our freedom,” Robredo said.
“We dream of a peaceful and progressive country wherein the people can live in peace and with dignity” she added.
