Politeknik Brunei welcomes 8th intake

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin /ANN) - Politeknik Brunei (PB) welcomed around 724 new students as the 8th intake for academic year 2018/2019 on the last day of the students’ orientation week at the Chancellor Hall of Universiti Brunei Darussalam yesterday.

The orientation week was launched on July 2, followed by religious orientation ceremony on July 3 at the Suri Seri Begawan Manggis/Madang Mosque.

Director of PB Dennis Ho Mun Tai, in his welcoming remarks, urged the students to comply with PB’s values of integrity, leadership, respect, innovation, collaboration and excellence.

He added that a total of 21 Diploma courses have been offered this year.

PB will continue to strive for its best in producing skilled working forces for the country in line with its vision which is to be a reputable institution in producing innovative, skilful and successful as well as marketable graduates.

During the orientation week, students were given briefings on registration and examination; enrichment programmes; student services and ethics; financial service and those related with academic matters and involvement in leadership activities and team work.

The orientation week served as a medium for students to get to know focal officers under PB, course programmes and introduce the students on Blended Teaching and Learning system which are being used by the institution.

PB offers a three-year diploma programmes for students who at least attained five GCE ‘O’ Level credits according to relevant subjects and students who passed their related technical and vocational course since July 2015.

Starting July 2018, three new programmes namely Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedic (Level 5 Diploma in Health Sciences) are being offered for the new intake.

The Science Programme was upgraded from Level 4 to Level 5 with the aim of lifting the image of nursing, midwifery and paramedic professions through better service quality, skills, and competency for the 21st century.
