Regional conference in Cambodia attracts 450 participants
PHNOM PENH (Rasmei Kampuchea Daily/ANN) - Four hundred and fifty local and international medical practitioners, experts and policy makers gathered here in Phnom Penh, capital of Cambodia at the Regional Conference on Combating Substandard and Falsified Medicines.
Those participants are coming from Cambodia, China, France, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam as well as from 20 international organisations.
This regional conference was held here from Nov 04-07, 2018. The opening ceremony was held this morning under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Hun Sen.
The participants are discussing on some issues, including global and countries overview on impacts of substandard and falsified medicines, improving surveillance and monitoring system for substandard and falsified medicines, strategy to combat transnational organized crimes and challenges in enforcement, as well as detection of substandard and falsified medicines.
For his part, Samdech Hun Sen encouraged all participants to prepare and take the necessary steps to reform the laws and regulations as required by their respective countries in order to ensure that the legal framework conforms with the international mechanism and boss up more cooperation to combat the issue …
Samdech Hun Sen urged this regional conference organizing committee to be held within the ASEAN framework and the Asia-Europe Meeting when Cambodia will host in 2020.
