Sports Ministry suspends former SLC President
COLOMBO (The Island/ANN) - Sports Minister issues special directive to Sri Lanka Cricket to prevent former President from participating, sitting or voting in any meeting of any committee or functioning in his duties as an office bearer.
In a special directive issued to Sri Lanka Cricket, Sports Minister Harin Fernando has requested SLC to prevent former President Thilanga Sumathipala from participating, sitting or voting in any meeting of any committee or functioning in his duties as an office bearer pending further notice. Sumathipala, is part of SLC Executive Committee in his capacity as the Immediate Past President. The special directive now prevents him from representing SLC in any capacity.
The directive was issued under section 39 of the Sports Law.
A three member panel has been appointed to look into a complaint made by Piliyandala Town Sports Cub on the 30th of August and provide the Minister a report within a period of one month.
