Suspect of alleged rape of a minor arrested in Bhutan
TSIRANG, Bhutan (Kuensel/ANN) - Police arrested another suspect, a 26-year-old man for the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl in Dagana.
Within a week of an arrest of a suspect connected to the alleged rape of a child, police arrested another suspect, a 26-year-old man for the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl in Dagana.
The victim is a class V student at one of the schools in Tshangkha county. The suspect, 26, is a contract teacher of the same school.
Principal of the school reported the case around eight in the evening of October 12.
It was learnt that the suspect after taking the victim on the morning of October 12, had allegedly raped the child in a hotel room at Tsirang.
According to sources, it was learnt that the suspect had requested leave on the morning of the day from the matron stating that the suspect was taking the victim to see her father at Tsirang. The suspect also said that he was a close friend of the victim’s father.
It was learnt that the victim had initially sought permission for leave from the matron. The suspect is a subject teacher of the victim at the school.
The matron found out about the incident from the victim when she enquired about her return on the same day in the evening.
It was learnt that the suspect had provided the victim with a pill to avoid pregnancy after the incident while in Tsirang. The victim had thrown away the pill at the bus station.
The victim was taken to Dagapela hospital for examination around 2:30 am on October 13. It was learnt that the victim was stable and left the hospital soon after the examination.
The suspect was arrested around 11 pm on the same day. Police officials said that the suspect had admitted to committing the crime.
