Universal Studios Japan gives sneak peek into Mario attraction

OSAKA (The Japan News/ANN) -  Some of the attractions for the new Super Nintendo World area, which features popular Nintendo character Mario, were unveiled to the press by Universal Studios Japan operator USJ LLC.

Universal Studios Japan operator USJ LLC unveiled to the press Tuesday some of the attractions for the new Super Nintendo World area, which features popular Nintendo character Mario.

Scheduled to open this summer at the amusement park in Konohana Ward, Osaka, Super Nintendo World will allow visitors to enjoy attractions themed on Mario Kart and dinosaur character Yoshi, among other rides.

At the press event, some of the tricks that will make visitors feel like they’re entering the game world were demonstrated.

When visitors put on a wristband that syncs with a smartphone app, their score is recorded on their phone when they touch question blocks to get virtual coins, just as in the “Mario Bros.” Nintendo game series.

There will be dozens of locations around the area where people can obtain coins, including question blocks. Visitors will be able to collect coins and compete against each other physically, creating an innovative experience reminiscent of the game.
