Susan Boyle’s dream comes true, as she sings for the pope
Boyle, who became famous with "Britain's Got Talent," sang in a warm up event for Benedict XVI’s Mass in Glasgow. A committed Catholic, says the rosary every day. Faith is the "pillar" of her life. The papal program today in London.

Glasgow (AsiaNews) - Among the thousands of people enthusiastic about the Pope’s presence in Britain is Susan Boyle, a singer who shot to fame through "Britain's Got Talent", a program that launches previously unknown people onto the world stage.

Boyle, a committed Catholic, sang yesterday before a congregation gathered in Bellahouston Park, ahead of a Mass that was attended by 100 thousand faithful. Susan Boyle, 49, sang the song that catapulted her to success (9 million copies sold), "I Dreamed a Dream" and two church hymns, "How Great Thou Art" and "Make Me a Channel of Your Peace. "

Boyle, who sang in a church choir before becoming famous, said singing in front of the pope was "indescribable," "a dream come true" and "an experience that makes me humble."

Interviewed by the BBC days earlier, she had said "the Pope's visit is a great event for Catholics in Scotland. My faith is the cornerstone of my life. I pray and say the rosary every day”.

Last night, after leaving Glasgow, the pope travelled to London, where today  he will meet with the world of Catholic education on the campus of St. Mary's University College. In the afternoon he will meet with the Anglican primate, Rowan Williams. Immediately afterwards, at Westminster palace, he will meet with academic, business and religious leaders.

Pope to young people, what counts is faith, not worldly "security" In his message for the next World Youth Day, Benedict XVI, recalling his own youthful experiences, writes that widespread relativism "does not generate true freedom, but instability, loss, conformity to the fashions of the moment" and that those who try to build a society without God hide a hell in which " selfishness, divisions in families, the hatred between people and between nations, lack of love, joy and hope prevail."

Christians in Asia, courageous witnesses of faith until martyrdom
by Bernardo CervelleraA day dedicated to martyrdom and persecution of the Churches of Asia in present times. The vitality of the community is precisely a result of this testimony to the spilling of blood. Violations of religious freedom are an attempt to oppress not only faith, but society. An "overdevelopment" without God leads to a "moral underdevelopment," which is the enemy of true human development. The cases of China, India, Vietnam. Support for the persecuted communities.
